| Bio: | Name: Her mother named her Ionia Skye. Really, it’s always been Jinx. Age: 19 D.O.B.: February 11 Blood Type: U Fae Blooded Race: Undine (She says undine rather than ondine because she likes the way it looks. Yes, this is something she’s put a lot of thought into.) Powers: Only those typical to her race. Jinx believes that because her father was so strongly fae-blooded, she should have some extra bonus perk she just hasn’t found yet. It’s there, and she will readily insist it is until she’s at the very least placated. Physical Description: Jinx is truly a slight little thing. To the eyes of many she’s painfully thin, and looks as if she couldn’t weight 100lbs soaking wet (no pun intended). She stands only at 5’4”, and simply gives the impression she could really blow away with the wind. Undines in their natural forms are nearly always blue, green, or maybe silver. Not Jinx. Jinx came out purple, and everyone was properly horrified by the oddity. Her skin, hair, and eyes are all in varying shades of purple and indigo, with her eye color staying the same in every form. In her human form, her skin takes on a healthy (albeit pale) white, and her hair goes blonde. In any form, Jinx looks young for her age, and this suits her. If a situation arises that requires her to pass for a younger girl, she can. If she has to dress up and layer on the make-up to look older, she will. She likes being adaptable. Jinx truly loves fashion, and nothing but the best. She’s truly head over heels for jewelry and anything dubbed shiny, and she collects amethysts. Personality: Jinx is… well. Jinx. She was an outsider with other undines of her circle from the moment she was born, and naturally that’s shaped her. She would insist she could care less and hasn’t affected her in any way whatsoever, but amazingly, some things are just out of her control. Actually, she’s incredibly naïve. For the most part, Jinx is a happy, bubbly girl who could care less if other undines think she’s weird. Guess what? They’re all elitist bitches anyway! But Jinx is an elitist bitch herself. She’s been told that she’s everything from weird to irregular to just plain wrong because of what color she is. She thinks she’s special. She’s never heard of another purple undine before, and to her, that’s simply amazing. She’s convinced it’s because she inherited something unique and fae-like from her father, which really just makes her better than any close-minded undine. Jinx is more than just an undine, don’t you see? That’s right, she has special snowflake syndrome. And she’s not ashamed in the least. This isn’t to say that she can’t be a friendly creature. She is! She’s fiercely loyal and loving to her friends and anyone she cares about. But if she decides someone isn’t worth her time? They might as well not exist. There’s truly a great duality to Jinx’s personality. She doesn’t see herself as a bad person, but she’s perfectly capable of doing pretty horrible things without losing sleep over it. She’s also capable of going out of her way to do something nice for a friend or a person in need. It depends on her mood and the situation. If Jinx could be summed up in one word, it would be curious. She wants to know everything about everyone, everywhere, all the time. It is often her biggest motivation in life. And of course, it frequently gets her in trouble. Sexuality: Bisexual History: Azura was always a perfectly ordinary and respectable ondine who never did anything crazy. Why yes, she was the Bilbo Baggins of ondines. When she met a strongly fae-blooded man by the name of Jordan-Bailey Matthews, the fact that Azura honestly and truly loved him was celebrated by friends and family. Sure, a love match may not be the important thing – it came second to a wedding ring, child, and shiny new soul – but it was a nice thing to happen to a nice ondine. There was the small issue of Jordan-Bailey’s family. His parents, well aware of their fae-blooded nature, insisted that he could not marry anyone but another person of equal blood. It was his duty to pass their gifts on! The young man constantly conceded to his parent’s demands, but he would never send Azura away. Azura found herself in a bit of a pickle. She loved the man – terribly – and couldn’t imagine a life without him. But would they ever be able to be together? Her sisters convinced her that a baby might change everything. If this silly human’s family was truly so old-fashioned, a grandchild might just be the good kick they needed to give their son their blessing. Unfortunately, it didn’t work. Azura did eventually get pregnant. And Jordan-Bailey’s family was in the supernatural know enough to be let in on the big secret of an ondine love-affair! But the elder Matthews were never anything but horrified. They became convinced that Azura would curse Jordan-Bailey at any moment, and they would lose their precious son. As the young man was only 17, his parents certainly had the means to make sure the union never happened. Jordan-Bailey was sent away to live with extended family in Australia, and Azura was left with a baby on the way and a broken heart. Things grew steadily worse when said baby was actually born. Her daughter was purple. This wasn’t such a problem for Azura. Terribly lonely, she loved her daughter immediately, and would have accepted her if she came out with two heads and a tail. The other ondines? Not so much. This child was just weird. Azura named her Ionia Sky. A few weeks after Ionia Sky was born, their small lake was assaulted by hunters – sent by Jordan-Bailey’s parents. Of course, the other ondines living there would never forgive the injustice. Azura’s sisters and their daughters stuck with her, relocating to another lake together, but they never accepted the baby as one of their own. Her older cousins took to calling her a jinx – a curse that brought bad luck upon all of them. And it stuck. Even now, Jinx knows the story of her name – she just doesn’t care. She likes the sound of it. Maybe she is a jinx! But she always comes out alive, and so does her mother. That’s all that matters. The family (if you could call it that) moved around a lot, which made it difficult for Jordan-Bailey to ever find his first love and daughter. It did eventually happen, when the group was living in Lake Superior. Unfortunately, five years had passed, and the spark between he and Azura had faded. He loved his daughter, though, and was determined to do right by her. He even offered to marry Azura and make them a proper family, despite the fact that they no longer felt the same love for each other. Azura was touched by the gesture, but declined. Her sisters thought her crazy, only cementing Ionia’s station as a jinx. Clearly, her birth had driven her mother insane. Even as a child, Jinx ignored them. She adored her father, though she wasn’t able to see him as much as they both would have liked. He eventually had to return home, but Azura would make sure to routinely see that there was a post office box in the nearest town so he and Jinx could write to each other. It meant Jinx had to learn to write, but that was a good skill to have anyway. It also meant Jinx’s first foray into the human world. Naturally, she loved it. Everything was fascinating and sparkly and just cool, dammit! She took instantly to reading and writing, and of course, made the decision that undines was the superior spelling. She liked U’s. They were nifty. Plus, it looked like it should almost rhyme with undying. That was just clever. Jinx’s roll as an outsider would only increase with age. When the time came that all of her cousins, and other girls of her area, had started keeping their eyes open for potential future husbands… Jinx was blinking in confusion. Why were all these silly girls so quick to give away immortality? Immortality rocked. She was going to be young and beautiful forever, and that sounded alright by her. Sure, as a human she’d be stronger, but strength wasn’t so important to her. She just couldn’t be bothered to care. She was willing to placate her mother with the idea that maybe someday she would settle down, but for now? She was in no rush at all. Since the Light of May: The group was living in a lake north of Scarlet Oak when the Light of May occurred, and Jinx thought it was rather nifty. Obviously fae existed at some point, and undines, merfolk, and kelpies did too. There was all this other cool stuff out there! Vampires were particularly fascinating. The idea that an undine could obtain humanity, and then go vampire was just… just amazing. Jinx immediately decided, if she ever did decide to marry a man and ‘do things right’, she would have to go vamp immediately after. The young undine immediately wanted to know everything. She’d always been extremely curious in nature, and took to trying to learn everything she could. You know what they say about ‘curiosity killed the cat’? Yeah. They say that for a reason. Jinx once determined that a great way to learn was to flat-out spy on people. One of her favorite ways to do this was to teleport into people’s swimming pools when they weren’t looking, and just lounge underwater listening to what was happening in the house. The day she was caught doing this at Ad Gustum almost went very, very badly for her. She was caught and promptly turned in to Domina Moriarty… who saw potential in her. Rather than gut her on the spot (Jinx had been listening, she knew what Domina was capable of), she was offered a job. Jinx was rather ecstatic with this turn of events. Officially, Jinx is just another whore. In truth, this is a cover. Vampires purchasing her time are purchasing her skills (however amateur they may be) as a spy. And Jinx loves every second of it. Special Skills/Abilities: Amateur and untrained though she may be, she’s actually a pretty decent spy. If she can glimpse a pool in someone’s backyard, all she has to do is pop in from afar and easily hear everything going on inside the house. Or the neighbor’s house. She retains information amazingly well – honestly, a little too well. She can recite word for word what people have said, even the trivial things no one really cares about. Personal Weaknesses: Curiosity. Jinx wants to know everything, with no thought to personal risks. It frequently gets her in trouble she has no way of getting herself out of. No Danger Sense. Seriously. Nadda. You know that nagging feeling in the back of your head that things are about to go very badly for you? That slight hesitation you have before, say, running across the street even? Yeah, Jinx doesn’t have that. Not the tiniest bit of it. If something seems like a good idea, well then obviously it is! And when things go badly, she’s pretty much fucked and can only attempt to scramble her way out of it. Special Snowflake. Jinx is one. Or so she thinks. Her cousins and aunts might not hate her as much if Jinx wasn’t so sure she was better than them anyway. She’s arrogant and entitled, and it often grates on others of her kind. Personal Strengths: Well Protected. Undines often have to find someone willing to protect them to get anywhere in life, and Jinx pulled that off pretty well. Completely accidentally, but that’s beside the fact! She is an employee of Ad Gustum, and as such, she has the best protection money can buy. Family: Her mother, Azura, is still alive and around. Her father, Jordan-Bailey, is alive and living in Australia. Jinx writes to him regularly, though she hasn’t told him about her new job. Some things are better left kept secret. Additionally, Jinx has ton of extended family – aunts and female cousins – all of which can’t stand on her and look at her only as a scapegoat and something to pick on.
